| De schilderijen van Benny Luyckx zijn een vervolg en een afgeleide van een reeks reusachtige houtskool tekeningen onder het thema E.D.E.N. Het handelt over verschillende thema’s zoals evolutie, de utopische wereld, de menselijke invloed op de natuur en zijn verhouding daarmee, religie, de romantische kunst maar ook zoals in de kleine tekeningen over de nietige (vernietigde) mens en de vernietigende mens. De contrastrijke rasters in zwart en wit verwezen naar computergames, in de schilderijen werden ze een raster van punten. Een artificieel scherm waar we door moeten kijken naar een uitgevonden landschap. De interpretatie is aan de kijker. |
The paintings of Benny Luyckx are a continuation and derivative of a series of giant charcoal drawings under the theme E.D.E.N. It deals with various themes such as evolution, the utopian world, human influence on nature and its relationship with it, religion, romantic art, but also, as in the small drawings about the insignificant (destroyed) human being and the destructive human being. The high-contrast grids in black and white referred to computer games, in the paintings they became a grid of points. An artificial screen through which we have to look at an invented landscape. The interpretation is up to the viewer. |
